Amami Haruhiko adalah murid SMA yang sekolah di Akademi Shumano di kota yang disebut Narasakicho. Di Narasakicho terdapat pelangi misterius yang terlihat di seluruh penjuru kota dan berhubungan dengan sihir yang dapat mengabulkan doa yang disebut “Gift”. Gift adalah persembahan sekali seumur hidup antara dua insan.
Saat masih kecil, Haruhiko dekat dengan temannya, Kirino, sampai dia mendapatkan kakak angkat yang bernama Riko. Haruhiko memperkuat hubungannya dengan Riko sampai mereka terpisah karena ayah Haruhiko tak mampu lagi membiayai mereka.
Setelah sekian lama waktu berlalu, akhirnya Riko kembali ke kota Narasakicho dan masuk Akademi Shimano bersama Kirino dan Haruhiko. Serial ini berpusat pada hubungan antara mereka dan perlahan-lahan kisah dibalik Gift dan pelangi itu pun terkuak.
